When I stepped outside
There was frost in the air
Even so, I can't remember a sky so clear
It was not that long ago, since we were last here
Driving 'cross town with you, painting your nails in the passenger chair
Wind in your hair, sometimes I'm there
Most of the time since then, I've been trying to move slow
I'm just passing through to see a few good people I know
I remember your dress
You said you weren't cold
Standing next to me under the night sky
Moon in your hair
And your scent in the air, sometimes I'm there
Every now and again, mostly in the spring
When the smoke and the salt are carried on the wind
It brings me to you, just like it did then
And I see your shape move upon the stair
Or is it a dream?
Sometimes I forget, but sometimes I'm there
